PSC Travel Program (U9-U14) Overview

 The Travel program Pomperaug Soccer Club offers is for the U9-U15 age groups (no high school players). Placement sessions are held once per year in early June for the following Fall/Spring seasons and are split into multiple divisions for each age group based on skill and the number of registrations. A higher level of commitment is typically required for players selected to play within the L1 division which is the highest competitive level.  Each division plays agains comparable divisions from other towns within the Northwest District of the Connecticut Junior Soccer Association (CJSA).

- Practices are 2x a week

- Games can be played on Saturdays or Sundays

U9-U10: Games are 7v7 with 30 min halves. The parent coach(es) will be the primary coach but they will get assistance and access to an Everson trainer throughout the season.       Practice is 2x per week, 1 run by an Everson trainer, 1 prepared and run by the Parent Coach.

Registration Costs: $245 each season

U11-U12: Games are 9v9 with 35 min halves. The parent coach(es) will be the primary coach for the games and team management but will have access to their Everson trainer throughout the season.  Practice is 2 times per week and one or both sessions are run by the Everson trainer.

Registration Costs: $320

U13-U14:  PSC uses an Academy format for U13/U14/U15 (No High School Players) in which players from these age levels may play together.  Teams are formed based on ability level. Games are 11v11 with 40 min halves with size 5 soccer ball. 

The primary coach will be an Everson professional coach who will run 2 practices a week as well as manage the games.  However, we still require a Parent Team Manager to coordinate communications, logistics, and working with the opposing teams on scheduling

Registration Costs: $370 each season

• The club offers Early-Bird discounts (-$20) so register early to save!!
• The club also adds on Late fees (+$45) - as any registration past the outlined dates causes additional work for our volunteers and the timelines that need to be met.
• Uniform kits are an additional cost ~$118.

Players are evaluated once per year in early June for the following Fall/Spring season.  This session is used in addition to information from the previous season.  An overview of the process is below:

NOTE: All players who wish to play Travel soccer MUST register BEFORE the placement session.  Players who do not register ahead of time are unable to participate in the placement session.

Timeline: 

1. Early to Mid-May - Registration opens for the Fall season & the PSC will announce the Travel placement schedule for early June.  

2. First or Second Week of June – Travel placements are held and you can expect the following:

• Players should arrive 10 mins before the start time to check in and receive a numbered jersey
• We ask that parents sit back close to the parking lot and do not treat this like a practice/game and do not provide support or instructions.  The goal is for the players to have a fun & a focused training session.
• During the session, Everson professional coaches are utilized to direct the session and evaluate each player. The club switched from paper forms to using an evaluation app on mobile devices called Team Genius several seasons ago.  This platform helps with the data collection process and creating teams.

3. June/July – Rosters for each team in the age groups are formed.  This is based on input from their current coaches, & Everson trainers of previous seasons, along with the evaluation session to rate each player and determine team placement.  This process will take some time to compile.

4. Beginning of August - Rosters are announced for all age divisions.
