SILENT SIDELINES this Weekend
Each season the CJSA schedules a 'Silent Sidelines Weekend'.  See below for additional details and thanks for your support of this initiative for the games this upcoming weekend.

Silent Sidelines Weekend Banner Cropped

Silent Sidelines Reminder

We are requesting that all spectators remain silent this weekend. For the sake of our kids, we are asking for one weekend where we stand back and just let the players play. We would like to provide each player at least one game of their season that is free of the distractions caused by spectators screaming and yelling at them.
Coaches are permitted to give players direction from the sidelines. Spectators are asked to talk in a normal tone to the person next to them and refrain from making any comments or giving directions to players, coaches or referees.  Spectators are permitted and encouraged to applaud the efforts by players.
The goals of Silent Sidelines Weekend are to:
1. develop our players to make decisions on the field without sideline intervention.
2. improve the players’ communication on the field by reducing the outside noise level.
3. support our youth referees by eliminating dissension from the sidelines.

Here is a little anecdote that many of you have likely heard before, but it bears repeating, especially during Silent Sidelines weekend:
A mother was making a breakfast of fried eggs for her teenage son. Suddenly the boy bursts into the kitchen.
"Careful! Careful! Put in some more butter! Oh my goodness! You're cooking too many at once. TOO MANY! Turn them! TURN THEM NOW! We need more butter. Oh my! WHERE are we going to get MORE BUTTER? They're going to STICK! Careful!... CAREFUL! I said CAREFUL! You NEVER listen to me when you're cooking! Never! Turn them! Hurry up! Are you crazy? Have you lost your mind? Don't forget to salt them. You know you always forget to salt them. Use the salt. USE THE SALT! THE SALT!"
The mother stared at him. "What's wrong with you? You think I don't know how to fry a couple of eggs?"
The son calmly replied, "I just wanted to show you what it feels like when I'm trying to play soccer."

Thank you for your support!!!

2018 Fall Season Updates

Hello Soccer Families,

The season is just about here, opening day is the weekend of 9/8.  A few points below about the upcoming season.

  • In-House Registration has now closed.  An update email was sent out on 8/23 with the latest details.
  • Travel practices start this week 8/27.  The Trainer practice schedule is available HERE.  Your coaches/managers should have reached out to you already for an introduction & any additional details, coaches practices.
  • Game schedules will not be available until the week of 9/3 for both Travel & In-House.  The district meetings for the Travel coaches are later this week when this begins to be coordinated with the other towns.
  • Travel emails have gone out --> Please upload photos of your players  if you have not completed already.

Thank you for your patience as we have worked on the new website platform in conjunction with the CJSA.  Due to some ongoing issues and limitations we have 2 websites available.  We hope the vendor and CJSA are able to work out the outstanding items over the fall season and we can consolidate down for the spring season.  In the meantime, see the details below.

  • www.pomperaugsoccerclub.com is our primary website running on League Athletics for league communications, team management, scheduling of practices & games by your coaches, email reminders.
    How to access the site:
    • You can see your teams schedule at any time by using the menus on the top menu bar under 'Team'
    • Existing Southbury parents/coaches, use your existing login - if you do not recall select the '?' and reset your password.
    • New Parents/Coaches (From Middlebury or if you never used the old SSC website) - an account was generated using the email address that was in the Stack Sports registration system for your player.  Select 'Sign In' link on the top right, then select the '?' and reset your password.
    • Information was imported into this website and you may not see roster photos for all players, this is OK.
    • If you need to update communication information, please update on both websites.

  • pomperaugsoccer.cjsalive.org - is the new Stack Sports website introduced this Fall season.  This is the site where you originally registered and is how player/coach data is used with the Districts and the CJSA.
    • This is the master location of the player/coach photos & age verification which is done with CJSA.
    • This is the master location of the status of your account and communication settings.
    • If you need to update communication information, please update on both websites.

Contact your coach if you have additional questions.
Thank you,
Pomperaug Soccer Club
